In our opinion, the clutch in the VMX17 is the first item you will have issues with when you start modifying it with power adders. This kit includes what you need to stack a second Diaphragm Spring atop your original spring to stop the OEM clutch from slipping. This kit includes an OEM gasket incase the original does not reseal. We also offer Rick's Retainer Ring as an option at the top of the page. Rick's Retainer is a deeper clutch spring ring that keeps the double clutch springs aligned. These modifications can be performed with the bike on the kickstand. When on the kickstand, the crankcase oil runs to the opposite side of the cover you need to remove to access the clutch so the oil does not need to be drained and very little oil will be spilled from the crankcase in this process because it ran to the opposite side. Kit includes one Diaphragm Spring, 6 OEM clutch disc bolts (updated OEM strength) and one clutch cover gasket. ***CAUTION: Torque spec for the 6 bolts in the spring plate retainer is 8 Nm or 5.8 ft-lbs. Do not over torque bolts. ***
